Imagine you have 10 cows but need rice. Your neighbor has rice but wants fish. Nobody has what the other wants. This "double coincidence of wants" problem made trading a nightmare. People literally walked around villages trying to match trades. Sounds exhausting, right? This is why humans invented money.
